What does iCare measure?

  • Water Index (a scale of your water quality driven by the factors below and shown as an easy colour chart)
  • Temperature
  • Sanitiser (ORP) -
    • Test strips and DPD test kits have been traditionally used for monitoring sanitizers. They differ from ORP readings because they are designed to estimate the concentration of sanitizer in water (PPM of chlorine or bromine).
    • On the other hand, ORP measures the chemical activity of the sanitizer, more specifically its oxidizing power . For water treatment applications, ORP is the most relevant measurement since sanitizers are used for their biological activity, i.e. their ability to kill germs and bacteria, which has been shown in many studies to be related to their oxidizing activity.
    • See more info on ORP vs PPM here
  • PH
  • TDS (Total Dissolved Solids)
  • Salt

Customer Questions
This sounds almost exactly what I'm looking for. I'm curious why it doesn't use zigbee rather than WiFi, as this would make the batteries last much longer and is the normal standard for smart device monitoring. Secondly, is it possible to access the data directly without using the phone app? I would like to feed this into my own monitoring system.
iCare has been using Wi-fi and Bluetooth for over 7 years with great success.  Some customers use extenders if needed which helps extend their coverage area.  With that being said, ZigBee is a great way to connect but we do not have plans ...
I purchased one of these in November 2022. The app mentions calibration but I didn't see anything in the instructions about the need to calibrate it. Is calibration necessary and if so do you sell the calibration kits discussed in the iCare calibration tutorial?
Calibration will not need doing for the first year at least. You will get a gist of when it needs doing as the readings will slowly become less consistent or become a bit strange. We have the calibration kits in stock, they are not currently listed on...
