FAQs

Is Bromine better than Chlorine in a hot tub?

Both bromine and chlorine have benefits and drawbacks. Bromine is a bit more effective at higher temperatures, spent bromine can be re-generated unlike chlorine and it doesn't have that ''chlorine-smell'' but it is more expensive and can be slower reacting.

I am having skin issues/rash with Chlorine in my hot tub, will switching to Bromine sort this?

We do not recommend jumping to switching chemical system if you are experiencing a reaction to hot tub water. The most common cause of skin issues in a hot tub tends to be lack of sanitiser (low chlorine or bromine) or imbalanced PH. Low sanitiser can allow bacteria to form in the water, which can affect your skin. Imbalanced PH can also cause issues as you may be sitting in acidic or alkaline water. It is best to try and narrow down what is causing the skin issue and ensure all your levels are balanced before jumping to switching chemical system. While we can advise on water chemistry, If you do experience issues with your skin, please consult a doctor.

How do I boost bromine levels in my hot tub?

If your Total Bromine levels are low, you can increase the flow rate on your floating dispenser or you can add Non Chlorine Shock to help re-generate spent bromine.
