The Happy Chlorine Feeder is designed for installtion in the return line to an above ground swimming pool, that has a filtration system with either threaded nut hose connection or a standard 38mm (1 1/2 inch) hose connection.

The feeder uses small or large Trichlor tablets ONLY. No other types of chemical should ever be used in the feeder. It holds up to 9 large 200g chlorine tablets or apporx. 1.95kg of Small 20g Chlorine Tablets and has a dial type control valve to regulate the rate of water going through. The capacity in normal conditions should provide a minimum of one week chloriantion for very large pools or up to two weeks for small pools. By regulating the valve setting between + (more chlorine) and - (less chlorine) and the amount of trichlor in the feeder, you can easily adjist the chlorine feed rate that is necessary to maintain a proper chlorine residual in your pool.

  • Always install your chlorine feeder after the heater. If there is no heater, install it after the filter. Damage to the filter or heater may occur if concentrated chlorine is allowd to flow through them.

Before Installation:

  1. Screw two connectors on both side holds (Marked In and Out) of the feeder. Put teflon tape (included) on the threads of each connector and screw them clockwise by hand.
  2. If the pool is provided with plunger valves or plugs to close the pool outlet and return, close them before installation. If there are no plunger valves or plugs, place the pump on a raised surface that makes its water inlet and outlet higher than the pool water level. Lower the pool water leve to below the return hole. If the hose length does not allow you to place the pump with hose on a raised surface, then lower the pool water below the return valves and pool outlets.
  3. Disconnect the water return hose from the pump and empty the hose, read for connection to the feeder.

For Standard 38mm (1 1/2 Inch Connections):

  1. Connect one end of a standard 38mm filter connector hose (not included) to the water outlet of the pump and the other end to the connector on the side marked 'IN' of the Chlorine Feeder. Secure hose connections using hose clamps or jubilee clip (not included).
  2. Connect the water return hose to the connector on the OUT side of the feeder. Secure the hose connection to the pump.

Before starting up the Happy in-line feeder, your pool should have a chlorine residual of 1-1.5ppm. Follow your pool dealer or manufacturer;s directions and instructions. Chlorine demand for pools varies based on use, temperature, sunlight, size and more. Initially you haev to experiment to determine the proper amount of chlorine and set valve setting on the feeder. As a guide, for an 18000 gallon pool, place 6 x large 200g chlorine tablets in the feeder and sert the valve to 1/4. Reduce or increase the valve setting for more or less chlorine.

To open the feeder:

  1. Shut off the pump and turn the dial clockwise to the OFF position.
  2. Slowly open the release valve on the top of the cap and wait one minute. DO NOT INHALE THE FUMES.
  3. To open the cap, press down on the cap locking tab and unscrew to remove the Cap.

To close the feeder:

  1. Place the cap with the o-ring in place into the feeder. Engage the thread and turn the cap clockwise until the tab on the cap clicks past the cap locking tab on the body then continue to tighten by hand only. Make sure O-ring is clean.
  2. Close the release valve at the top of the cap
  3. Place the dial control valve to the desired setting. Open the on-line valves (if any) and re-start the pump.

Winterising

  1. Where freezing temperatures can be expected, remove the drain plug and drain all water from the Happy feeder.
  2. Carefully remove un-dissolved tablets and rinse out your Chlorine Feeder thoroughly with water.
  3. Replace the lid and engage only one and a half turns.
