Customer Questions
Can this be used with an inflatable hot tub? We have very hard water in our area and not sure how best to combat that. Thanks!
This would not be overly effective in an inflatable spa. To prevent scaling issues, keep you PH 7.2 to 7.6 and you could use an anti-scale product weekly as a belt and braces approach. It may also be worth looking at a conditioner like o-care or Silk...

  1. After filling your hot tub, use a test strip to measure the hardness level of the water. If hardness is above 100ppm, use Vanishing Act calcium remover to soften the water. Suggested hardness level is 75ppm to 150ppm (25-75ppm for Salt Systems).
  2. Rinse the Vanishing Act calcium remover with running water until the water runs clear. When placed in the hot tub, slight colour transfer to the water may occur ancd can be easily resolved with chlorine.

For Hot Tubs with a heater return (No Bypass Filtration / No Suctions):

  1. Place the Vanishing Act calcium remover (flat side down) over the heater return in the footwell.
  2. After 10-12 hours, slip the calcium remover and re-position over the heater return grill.
  3. After a total of 24 hours, take the calcium remover off of the heater return and discard.
  4. DO NOT RUN THE JETS WHILE CALCIUM REMOVER IS IN PLACE.

For Hot Tubs with jet suction fittings:

  1. Activate the low speed jet pump or press the Vanishing Act button on your control panel if so equipped.
  2. Place the Vanishing Act calcium remover completely over the associated suction fitting in the footwell (Check manual of your Hot Spring Spa if unsure).
  3. Test spa water for hardness after jets shut off, which may take 1-2 hours. Repeat 1-2 times to achieve suggested hardness level of 75ppm-100ppm (25-75ppm for Salt Systems) then discard the calcium remover. A single 6 hour Soft Water cycle is typically adequate.

Important:

  • Always make sure your hot tub water is properly balanced with a sanitiser like chlorine or Bromine before entering your hot tub.
  • For maximum effectiveness, esnure that the calcium remover remains on the heater return or suction fitting while the calcium remover is in use.
  • Calcium remover may not be necessary if water hardness is already in or below the suggested range.
  • Multiple calcium removers may be needed if the water hardness is above 200ppm.
