Customer Questions
How long do I have to wait between dosing and using the hot tub or pool?
After a shock dose, we recommend waiting at least 24 hours. You can use a hot tub or pool with a slightly higher level but the reccomended free chlorine level is 1-3ppm is pools or 3-5ppm in hot tubs
What is the difference between chlorine shock and stabilised chlorine granules?
Chlorine shock and chlorine granules are both powdered forms of chlorine with some key differences. Chlorine shock is stronger, faster-reacting and unstabilised. Unstabilised means it does not contain any stabiliser (cyanuric acid) so burns off quicker in sunlight. Chlorine granules are better for everyday dosing but chlorine shock is a better problem solver.

  1. Ensure that the circulation pump is running and the pool or spa is not in use.
  2. Open the container in a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors, use personal protective equipment (e.g. gloves and eye protection).
  3. Fill a large clean plastic container with water.
  4. Add 3g per 1000 litres for routine chlorination or 50g for a super shock dose (e.g. 1500 litre spa freshly filled will need a 4.5g as a routine dose and 75g if algae is present) (e.g. 70000 litre pool will need 210g routine dose and 35000g if algae is present).
  5. Add the desired amount of chlorine into your container of water and stir until dissolved. For larger quantities, mix up the solution in batches.
  6. Carefully pour the dissolved solution around the pool or spa to ensure even distribution.
  7. Never mix this product with other chemicals and do not dose through a skimmer containing chlorine tablets.
  8. for pools, keep the circulation pump running for at least 30 minutes. For spas, keep the circulation pump running for at least 15 minutes after adding the solution.
  9. Wait until chlorine residual has dropped to 3ppm for pools or 5ppm for spas before being used. Temporary cloudiness may occur.
