AquaPro Hot Tub Phosphate Remover is a highly effective phoshate remover specifically designed for hot tubs. Using our phosphate remover on a regular basis will ensure that other chemicals, especially sanitisers, will work more effectively.

What are phosphates and what is their impact on hot tub water?

Phosphates are chemicals that contains the mineral phosphorus. They exist in products like detergents and soaps, as well as lots of other things in life including food, water and the air!

Phosphates play a part in determining how algae and bactera grow. They can act as a food for algae and bacteria.

In swimming pools and hot tubs, this means that phosphates can fuel algae or biofilm growth. This ultimatley means your santisiers (chlorine/bromine) work a lot harder trying to remove these microorganisms.

How do I test for phosphates in hot tub water?

Simply use a good quality phosphate test strip like the Insta Phosphate Test Strips

  1. Measure the phosphate level with a suitable Phosphate Test Strip like the La Motte Insta Phosphate Test Strips

  3. On replacing the filters, ensure the circulation pump is on and add the required dose close to the skimmer box or filter.
  4. Bathing can commence 30 minutes after adding the phosphate remover.

Tips:

  1. For high levels of phosphates above 3ppm, the water may go cloudy for a 24 hour period. Always dose with a suitable hot tub clarifier after initially cleaning the filters.
  2. To ensure maximum water quality add a maintenance dose, following the dosing chart above, on a weekly basis.
